  ANIMAL CRUELTY STATUTES

In an unprecedented campaign against violence to animals, the American Humane Association (AHA) investigated the cruelty statutes in all 50 states and Washington, DC. As a result of that investigation, the AHA compiled a list of the basic aspects of each state's statute.

The AHA study specifically focuses on state cruelty statutes. Even though animal fighting is extremely cruel and limited information regarding fighting was included in the study, we have not included that information. If you wish to read the statutes for fighting, go to: http://www.amerhumane.org/cavstatutes.html

We are aware that statutes change constantly. If your organization knows of a recent legislative change or upcoming bill concerning your state's cruelty statutes, email us and notify the AHA by calling 800-227-4645.
